Thursday 11th July 2024 - MOSAICS - School holidays: Create & Connect - whānau focus

Ceramics and tiles can be used to create all sorts of garden art! We have a whole bunch of tiles and ceramics, tile cutters, adhesive, grout and sealant for you to bring your creations to life!

This is our beginner intro to mosaics with tamariki, we will have materials for each whānau to collaboratively create something to take home with them, but we will have additional resources available to purchase at an additional cost if you and your whānau would prefer to create something separately and take a few things home (please let us know if this is your preference at the time of booking so we can avoid disappointment and ensure we have enough on hand).

There are sharp items, tools and materials that present some hazard to younger tamariki particularly. We have eye protection and gloves on hand and will work collaboratively to support tamariki supervision. Opportunities to learn about risk assessment and safety at a young age supports our tamariki developing skills that will assist keeping them safe later on. We have a current first aid holder on hand if one was so required but mostly we need to have caregivers understand and reinforce safety considerations as explained during the workshop.

Please note, babies and toddler aged children may not be involved directly in this Create and Connect due to the extensive hazards presented but we are absolutely able to accommodate space and resources alongside for these members.

*Create & Connect events are held twice monthly, once with a whānau focus and once with an adult focus. For adult focus events, we accommodate accompanying children in a close by but separate space. Our whānau focused events are an opportunity to learn, explore and play alongside your tamariki. We know it can be difficult to find cost effective holiday entertainment, particularly when you have multiple children. Lots of kid focused activities generally are not the funnest ones for adults but mutual sites of fulfillment are important & we want to create more opportunities for these for all whānau & caregivers.
