We invite you to join us for this special school holiday Create & Connect event with a whānau focus* which is on the topic of clay. We will learn some tips & tricks about clay creating, explore some options and examples that might help inspire and then all have a play and explore and you will have an invitation to make a creation alongside your kids. Or hang close by with a coffee and chat to other adults instead if you would prefer to not get your hands dirty!
Clay can be used in so many different ways and to create endless things, bring your imagination along for this one! In the past, bowls/cups, magic wands, candle/incense holders, meditation labyrinths, garden art and creatures of your own design have been popular, but don’t let previous examples limit your thinking! We have a whole bunch of clay and a variety of tools and resources for you to bring your creations to life.
We are using high quality air dry clay for this event, our kiln is not yet set up for fired ceramics workshops. We do have sealants and resins available which can transform your pieces so they can get wet but this process takes more time and cost than we have allowed here, talk to us via email if this is of interest.
There are always risks in children engaging in life, some more than others at our Create and Connect events. The clay workshop presents the least of these and we can make it accessible for all members of your whānau to play and explore together. We will work collaboratively to support tamariki supervision but ultimately your children’s safety is your own responsibility. We have a current first aid holder on hand if one was so required but caregivers are expected to understand and reinforce any safety considerations as outlined by our facilitators.

*Create & Connect events are held twice monthly, once with a whānau focus and once with an adult focus. For adult focus events, we accommodate accompanying children in a close by but separate space. Our whānau focused events are an opportunity to learn, explore and play alongside your tamariki. We know it can be difficult to find cost effective holiday entertainment, particularly when you have multiple children. Lots of kid focused activities generally are not the funnest ones for adults but mutual sites of fulfillment are important & we want to create more opportunities for these for all whānau & caregivers.
