Rodney Rocks - Bringing Arts, Community & Nature together!

Rodney Rocks - Bringing Arts, Community & Nature together!

In May 2024, Kaipātiki Reserves new playground was opened and alongside the opening was the birth of Rodney Rocks. Inspired by Westie Rocks, the rock hunting group based at Lake Panorama in West Auckland, our team saw an opportunity to encourage fun, collaboration and community. We are also hoping that the buy in with encourage others to kaitiaki (care and guardianship) the Reserve and look after the environment and resources we have here.

Since its inception, over 300 painted rocks have been hidden and collected from around the reserve and this mahi continues. This weekend, we are joining the Arts in the Ville celebration locally, currently in its 9th year running, and opening up a community rock painting day which we would love to share with you.

We have a bunch of rocks prepped, resources at the ready and will be at the playground tomorrow to share the rock painting, hiding and hunting love with all ages. We have a raffle with some rock painting kits up for grabs and will draw that tomorrow at 2pm. More details can be found on our Facebook page or event lisiting here where you can also purchase raffle tickets
